How Educational Toys can Benefit Your Child’s Development?

We shared our Share yours!

Children are a blessing and are adorable, but they cry a lot and they don’t know when it is time to leave that toy alone, and do that assignment the teacher gave them.

Those are the times when your patience as a parent is seriously tested.

But fear no more, as your nerves will be safe once you get your kids educational toys.

What are the BENEFITS of educational toys for your kids?

These blessed inventions combine education & learning with fun; at the same time, in some cases, they may not be really as fun as “regular” toys, so it is easier for your kids to put them aside and do homework or go to bed.

The fact that educational toys stimulate a kid’s sense of responsibility also has a part to play in that.

Edu toys are very important in a child’s development. They take on many forms, but toy-books seem to have a significant effect on them, especially if those books are filled with sounds, like music and silly voices.

Such books have a tremendous effect on the language learning efforts of children, much more than picture or coloring books. That, however, does not mean those types of books should be forsaken; their presence is required for a harmonious development.

Technology has made some very good educational toys that, over these past years, have proven very efficient in picking the little ones’ interest in learning. This is another poof that learning things does not have to be a bore or a never-ending hassle. But the old-fashioned toys should not be forgotten either. They can do a good job at educating children too, not to mention the weight on your wallet is considerably reduced.

Toys that educate the mind, the body, and the child’s social ability

So, let’s see what toys fall under the educational tag, shall we?

Firstly, there are different areas where children can evolve their abilities. The most obvious ones are physically related.

This is where all games and toys promoting physical activity can be found. Bikes, shovels, balls, skate boards, and so on, play a large role in improving dexterity, strength, stamina and coordination.

In short, they promote a healthy body, which is an extremely important asset to have. Surveillance is required as injuries are most likely to happen where running or jumping is involved.

A healthy body is one third of the whole; another one is represented by the mind. The books already mentioned fall under the intellectual development area.

On the other hand, while learning to ride a bike, children can grasp basic physics, like forces, velocity, as well as mechanics (how exactly the bike moves when pushing the pedal). Puzzles will help kids in growing an analytical and logical approach to things, while building games will enable them to see one step into the future, to have an overview on how things will look when everything is finished.

Creative games have a similar effect, besides helping in stimulating social skills; these games include playing with dough, crayons, or pretending to be someone or something else.

The final touch comes from social development.

Kids need to know how the world functions, in a gradual fashion, of course. They need to be able to integrate into a community and suppress their aggressiveness. Board games, construction games, puzzles and even computer games help kids in grasping the basics of proper interpersonal relationships.

They need to be able to share things, to help others and ask for help when required.

Children must be gently admonished when they refuse to share a toy, or when they start behaving aggressively towards their playmates. Parents and teachers can only be aware of such behaviors if interactive, social games are played.

Good Toys are Safe Toys

Lastly, the toys children play with must be as safe as possible.

If inherent risks are present, they must be warned in advance, no matter what their age is.

For example, building blocks can be free of sharp edges, but can cause chocking, so be sure to warn the kids about that if they are old enough, or avoid buying such toys for them if they are too little to understand some basic rules.

Better yet, keep a close eye on kids under 10 years old; you can never be too safe with the little rascals.

After that age, children are able to better understand the risks they are exposing themselves to, but supervision and involvement in their games are still required. It may seem like a drag, especially when you get back from work, but get over it; you are a parent and it is your duty to properly raise your kid.

As you could see, toys are extremely important in our early life.

Everyone knows a case or two in which the kid is so attached to his toy that he will not let it out of his sight to the point where he sleeps with it or brings it to school. Or was that a favorite blanket?

Anyway, that shows how high toys are on children’s priority list.

Keep that in mind when buying the next batch of toys, as well as your offspring’s natural preferences.
