There is nothing that can keep people entertained more than board games when there is nothing else to do.

Board games come in different varieties and you will find that these days some of them are really advanced.

Who wants the advanced stuff though?

Some of the best games around are the classics.

Classic board games are those we all remember growing up. These are the games that we would spend hours playing.

These games can easily be found today and they are cheap.

The popularity of these games will never die out.

Here is a list of 5 magnificent classics.

Monopoly

Monopoly would probably have to be the number one classic board game there is.

WE all have played this game at least once. Heck, some of us even had school assignments that involved playing this game.

Over the years there have been many versions of this game made and that is one of the reasons why it lives on.

Monopoly draws us in because it gives us the chance to pretend we are cut throat business people.

Monopoly is available online as well and in video game form.

Candy Land

Candy Land is a game that is very fun for people who are very fun.

When you see the image on the box as an adult, it brings back a lot of memories.

The rules for Candy Land are really easy to understand and there is not much skill required at all.

Children appreciate the brightly-colored pictures on the game board as well as the idea of being in “Candy Land”.

This classic board game works well for children who are learning their colors, because drawing cards with colored squares on them decide where a player can move with their piece.

Trivial Pursuit

If you are the type of person who likes learning things while playing certain games, then you will enjoy this classic.

You will not want to play Trivial Pursuit with someone who is a know it all though.

You can find many different versions of this game and all of them relate to a certain area of trivia.

There are versions suited for younger players as well as older ones.

Playing Trivial Pursuit is going to make you smarter if you play it all the time.

Checkers

Now you know I could not write this without mentioning the game of checkers.

There is nothing really exciting about the way the game looks. It is really simple to play and you can usually find the game for less than $5 dollars at several stores.

Checkers can provide a lot of entertainment, because although it is a thinking persons game it is just so simple.

Chutes & Ladders

Chutes & Ladders is a classic board game that is good for young players.

It is a good game for teaching and encouraging children to count.

Children will really like the idea of getting to move their token far ahead if they are able to land on a space with a ladder.

There are versions of this game for adults as well: Shots & Ladders, which is played in a similar fashion to the traditional game but players have to take shots of alcohol if they land on certain squares.

You know, the classic board games will never die, because they are part of a lot of our childhoods.

These games are affordable and there is no reason why you can’t own all of them and maybe play it with your kids, so that it lasts for many generations to come.

Stick to the basic versions for the most fun.

You can try out variations, but you might not like them as much.
